Wanda People, ce ne sera pas pour cette fois. Présélectionné pour une nomination aux Oscars, le film camerounais « The Fisherman’s diary » n’aura malheureusement pas été retenu.
Présélectionné pour une nomination dans la catégorie « Meilleur film international » aux Oscars, « The Fisherman’s Diary » de Kang Quitus et Enoh Johnscot n’ira finalement pas plus loin.
En effet, ce lundi 15 février, la liste finale des nominées à la 93e édition de la cérémonie de récompenses du cinéma américain, prévue le 25 avril 2021 à Los Angeles, vient de tomber. Et hélas, le film qui a pourtant été accueilli à bras ouvert par Netflix ne figure pas dans la shortlist des prétendants à l’Oscar du meilleur film étranger.
Seule consolation pour l’Afrique, le film réalisé par le tunisien Kaouther Ben Hania, « L’homme qui a vendu sa peau », demeure en compétition. Si à lui, on souhaite bonne chance, on souhaite aux cinéastes camerounais de persévérer dans l’effort. Le travail finit toujours par payer ooh !
